Siemens drives — SINAMICS G120, S120, G150, and S150, along with legacy Micromaster 420/430/440 and SIMOVERT Masterdrives — represent the largest installed base of industrial frequency converters in Europe. Common Siemens drive failures vary by series. Micromaster drives frequently suffer from electrolytic capacitor aging, IGBT failures, and control board SMPS faults. SINAMICS G120 power modules develop IGBT and current sensor failures, while CU control units can experience firmware corruption or communication module faults. SINAMICS S120 line modules and motor modules face high-power IGBT failures, DC link issues, and Active Interface Module (AIM) problems. Legacy SIMOVERT Masterdrives are prone to capacitor aging, CUR board failures, and CBP communication board issues.
