Synthesisers combine precision analogue and digital electronics. We repair keyboards, PCB boards, power supplies and audio modules of synthesisers from all manufacturers. Quote 24h, 12-month warranty.
Synthesiser service — repair scope
Keyboards and mechanisms
Repair of synthesiser keyboards — replacement of rubber contacts, repair of key contacts, replacement of key mechanisms (weighted piano, semi-weighted). Disassembly and cleaning.
Power supplies and power circuits
Repair of synthesiser power supplies (±15V/±12V/+5V/+3.3V). Replacement of electrolytic capacitors, LM317/LM337 regulators, fuse blocks and transformers. Eliminating mains hum via capacitors.
Mainboards and audio processors
Repair of digital synthesiser mainboards (Korg Kronos, Roland Fantom). Diagnostics of Motorola/NEC/ARM DSP processors, ALTERA/Xilinx FPGA audio chips and SDRAM/Flash memory.
Displays and LCD
Replacement of LCD/TFT displays (Korg Kronos 88, Yamaha Montage, Roland Fantom). Repair of CCFL and LED backlights. Updating display controllers after display matrix replacement.
Analogue VCO/VCF/VCA electronics
Repair of analogue circuits in Moog/Sequential/Oberheim synthesisers: replacement of VCO chips (CEM3340/AS3340), VCF (CEM3320/SSM2040) and VCA (CEM3360). Calibration of octave scaling and tuning.
Memory and CMOS batteries
Replacement of CMOS/CR2032 batteries — loss of memory and patches is the most common fault of old synthesisers. Before replacement an SRAM memory dump is created to restore presets.
Report fault of synthesiser — no-obligation quote
Provide the synthesiser model and fault description. An EFIXLAB specialist will contact you with a diagnosis and quote.
Frequently asked questions — Synthesisers
Kronos presets are stored on the SSD — when replacing the SSD we clone the contents, so presets are preserved. If the issue is a CMOS battery (loss of user presets in older models), we replace it and, if a memory dump was successful, restore the data.
Most common cause: worn VCO chips (AS3340) or temperature drift. After diagnostics we assess the oscillator condition and, if necessary, replace with calibration of 1V/octave scaling and high-octave tuning.
Yes — we have experience with Juno-60, Jupiter-8, DX7, Oberheim OBX. Availability of analogue CEM chips is now better (manufacturers such as Alfa Rpar have resumed production of AS3340 etc.). Quote individually.
Korg and Roland Synthesizer Repair — Keyboard Electronics and Digital Audio
Korg and Roland synthesizers — from vintage analog classics (Korg MS-20, Roland Juno-106, Jupiter-8) to modern digital workstations (Korg Kronos, Roland Fantom) — are sophisticated electronic instruments combining analog/digital audio synthesis, digital signal processing, keyboard scanning, MIDI communication, and display interfaces. These instruments represent significant investments for musicians and studios, and their unique sound characteristics make each model irreplaceable. Professional electronic repair extends the life of both vintage collectibles and modern performance instruments.
Common synthesizer electronic failures include keyboard contact strip degradation causing dead or intermittent keys, encoder and potentiometer wear affecting parameter control, display failures (LCD/OLED aging, backlight loss), power supply degradation, voice chip failures in analog instruments (CEM/SSM/Roland IR3R chips), DAC/ADC failures in digital instruments, MIDI interface problems, and storage media issues (floppy drive, CF card, USB). Vintage synthesizers face capacitor aging throughout, while modern workstations may develop touchscreen and SSD issues.
EFIXLAB provides synthesizer electronics repair covering both vintage and modern instruments. Our service includes keyboard contact replacement, encoder and potentiometer service, display repair and replacement, power supply rebuild, voice circuit diagnostics and repair (with sourcing of rare analog ICs where possible), digital audio circuit troubleshooting, MIDI interface repair, and storage system restoration. We handle the delicate analog circuits of vintage instruments with appropriate care.
Synthesizer repair preserves instruments with unique musical character — particularly vintage models where original components define the sound. Repair costs are typically 20–50% of instrument replacement value (where replacement is even possible for rare models). All synthesizer repairs include complete functional testing across all voices, keys, and interfaces, with our 12-month warranty on electronic workmanship.
