Eurotherm Drive Repair — 590+, 650V, and Legacy DC/AC Drives
Eurotherm (now part of Watlow, drives division acquired by Parker) produced a range of DC and AC drives — 590+ and 590C DC drives, 650V AC vector drives, and legacy 580/584/605 series — still widely installed in process industries, converting, plastics, and metal processing. Eurotherm drives were known for excellent process control characteristics, and many installations continue to operate with these drives controlling critical production processes decades after installation.
Common Eurotherm drive failures include thyristor (SCR) degradation in DC drives (590+, 590C), IGBT power module failures in AC drives (650V), control board processor and memory faults, firing circuit (gate driver) failures, current sensor drift affecting speed regulation, and communication module issues (PROFIBUS, Modbus, DeviceNet). The 590+ DC drives may develop snubber capacitor and RC network failures, while 650V drives are susceptible to bus capacitor aging and SMPS circuit faults.
At EFIXLAB, we repair all Eurotherm drive families. DC drive repair includes thyristor testing and replacement, firing circuit restoration, current transformer calibration, and control board component-level repair. AC drive repair covers IGBT power stage rebuild, bus capacitor replacement, gate driver repair, and control electronics restoration. We test all repaired drives under motor load conditions and verify proper speed regulation and process control performance.
Eurotherm drive repair is essential given the legacy nature of most Eurotherm installations — Parker (current owner) may not fully support all legacy models. Repair costs typically save 35–60% versus sourcing replacement or compatible alternatives. All Eurotherm drive repairs include motor load testing and our 12-month warranty.
