KEB Automation Drive Repair — COMBIVERT and F5/F6 Series
KEB Automation (Karl E. Brinkmann) manufactures frequency inverters, servo drives, and braking systems used extensively in material handling, elevator technology, wind energy, and general machine building. Their COMBIVERT F4, F5, and F6 series drives provide reliable motor control across a wide power range, while KEB clutch/brake controllers and safety brake modules protect personnel and equipment. KEB drives are particularly prevalent in European elevator installations and conveyor systems.
Common KEB drive failures include IGBT power module degradation from thermal cycling and load surges, DC link capacitor aging causing bus voltage instability, gate driver circuit failures, cooling fan bearing wear, and control board faults affecting digital and analog I/O or fieldbus communication. COMBIVERT F4 legacy drives are prone to electrolytic capacitor dry-out, while F5 series units may develop STO (Safe Torque Off) circuit issues. Braking module controllers can suffer from relay contact wear and power semiconductor burnout.
At EFIXLAB, we repair the full range of KEB drives and controllers. Our process includes power stage diagnostics with calibrated motor loads, gate driver signal analysis, DC bus capacitor ESR and capacitance measurement, control board functional testing, and safety circuit verification. We rebuild power stages with matched IGBT modules, replace capacitor banks, repair control PCBs at the component level, and verify all safety functions before returning repaired units.
KEB drive repair offers excellent value for elevator and conveyor operators where drive downtime directly impacts building access or logistics throughput. Typical repair savings of 40–60% versus new drive purchase make repair the economically sound choice. For legacy COMBIVERT F4 and early F5 drives no longer manufactured, our repair capability ensures continued operation. All KEB drive repairs include load testing and our 12-month warranty.
